Japanese Princess, Mako, 25, will lose her royal status after her marriage to a commoner who works in a law firm.

The granddaughter of Emperor Akihito had met Kei Komuro about 5 years ago, and got engaged this week, and according to the Empire law, female royals lose their status if they marry a commoner, however, it does not apply to male royals.

The wedding is to be held next year.
