Every year, on 31 May, the World Health Organisation marks ‘World No Tobacco Day’ (WNTD), highlighting the health risks associated with its use, and advocating for policies to reduce its consumption.

The theme for 2017 is ‘Tobacco – a threat to development’, which will demonstrate the threats that the tobacco industry and will propose measures that governments and the public should take to confront the global tobacco crisis.

The UAE has already set a plan in place for Q4 2017, which will see a 100% tax implemented on tobacco products.
