The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai has unveiled a new volunteering and community service policy that has been adopted by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

The new policy aims at engaging more youth participation, while increasing the percentage of volunteerism from its current 3.6% to 20% by 2020. A new regulatory framework for volunteering is expected to spearhead this initiative.

The CDA is also updating its Volunteer Portal, a smart app that will provide a database of opportunities and mechanisms for volunteering in Dubai.
